I know a Driver in Florida that has been with the same Company since 1961. If you look at him, you think hes 61 and the man is 76 and hes very thin.
How old is the oldest driver you know?

Was at the Pilot in Leavenworth IN last week. Parked next to a really nice classic looking Kenworth with a box placarded with explosives placards.
As I was walking in I held the door for and older lady that if she wasn't 75 then she has had a hard life.
When I walked out the Kenworth drove by and guess who was at the wheel, yep, granny.

I hauled concrete culverts with an 81 year old Roadway Retirie . I was amazed at his good posture. He can tie down a load faster than most flatbedders!

I turned 68 in Oct and been truckin' for 10 years. This is after working for TWA for 38 years in a office job and 1 year with Delta before that. When American bought out TWA most of us Management and non union smucks got kicked to the curb, so I got my CDL and got a job on a concrete mixer. Not a bad job but I hated to climb in the drum and hammer out build up on the fins. Then drove a end dump for a couple of years before me and another car swapped paint and as they say, they thought it best we "part company". With my present company about 7 years hauling concrete pipe, culverts, manholes and assorted precast concrete products.
And yes, I can keep up with any of the young bucks in chaining down a load. I like my job as it is mostly local, but on occasion we do some out of town work or work at another location for a week or so.
And yes, I do plan on turning in my retirement papers some time next year.
Trucking has been good to me, I have no complaints. -
First guy I rode with to go get my first truck was 77 (1996).
I remember seeing a driver in a truck, in PA a few years ago. He had a star on the door with the number "64" in it. Underneath was "safe years of driving", so I'm guessing he was around 81 or 82.
A family friend, retired driver, just passed away this year at age 99! Of course, he hadn't driven in years. But he kept trim and healthy right up to the end. -
I think is what keeps older drivers feeling young is to keep driving.I work with 2 drivers in their 70s.For some, trucking ages you but for many it actually makes you look younger then what you really are. These drivers may be in their 70s but look and act alot younger.
