I'm not talking about the ability to do the work, although we've all seen dry van drivers that COULD NOT get into their own trailer. What I mean is that I see people that could not pass the physical that I just did, consisting of a duck walk under a 4 ft table and the ability to raise themselves onto a 4 ft high table.
That's my post number... I never brought age into this, I'm asking about 400+lb people in trucks.

The Dr. can not use BMI for anything... The carrier doesn't have anything to do with your Med Card but, they can require you take a sleep study, which I never would. If you got a Med Card through a carrier, that may be what your talking about. I don't like that situation, someone is making money. Why should I get another Med Card if I already have one and it is still good?

Because there are enough doctors that will just sign a med card with no physical.

That is the company requirement. It is not part of the the physical.

I specifically mentioned company physicals in my OP. Not sure how 400+ lb people are passing physicals anywho. I'm saying this as a fat guy weighing in at 300, lol.

Not sure what your definition of "physical" is but, we won't have to worry about that now, with the DOT Physical laws that require the Dr. to get certified, right? I have worked for two carriers that required me to get a new Med Card, TMC and USX. TMC took us to a walk in clinic and the physical was no different than the one I get at the place I go myself. USX has the clinic come to them and give the physical there, which again, was no different than the one I go to myself. The only reason I didn't complain too much is because they were paying for it.

Definition of a "physical"..? I said that it is easy for people to get their medical cards filled out with no physical if companies were to rely on the medical cards drivers get themselves. It seems obvious many companies don't actually care about driver health, but I imagine that it's an insurance deal, so they make sure that their drivers have certifiable physicals on record.

    SheepDog Thanks this.

Good post Brandson. I noticed some large drivers. These guys mainly dont have to handle a lot of freight if any. I do think the doctor realizes hey this guy drives a reefer, has lumpers unloading him and Ive seen him in here several times over the years,so hes ok or he wouldnt still be driving.I think they are more strict on a new driver with no proven track record, because they dont have a clue if youre medically safe yet.And maybe Dozer is a proven safe driver never had any problems in the past. Also all these guys require is a tilt steering wheel and theyre going to make a lot of money for the company.Theyre going to get the job done . There is a lot of tricks drivers use to pass their physical ie.( drinking a lot of water and fasting before the test) to get their bloodsugar down and camouflage their diabetes.Take their test early a.m. while their blood pressure is low. Memorize DEFLOTEC for the eye exam. Franticly push the button on the audio test like they are actually hearing something.Im proud to share the road with these drivers, theyre safer than a drug addict on the road and theyre still trying to work,(not just trying to live off the government teet) . It is amazing they pass the physical, but Im glad to see them pass. JMO

I am sure that someone could find or makeup a physical long form and forge a Dr.s name to it, along with business info and phone number but, I don't think that would be smart. Maybe it is just the Integrity I try to keep that I don't even think about things like that. Now that I am thinking about it, maybe your right about someone doing that. I just assumed that someone actually called to verify that the physical was good but, maybe some carriers don't care to verify because it is an FMCSA thing anyway and as long as you show them a card, your good.
