Take that $50,000 "loan" your mom and dad are giving you and go to college and get a degree in something with a future. You'll fail out here trying to become an O/O with mom and dad floating you cash. Don't even try this man. No offence, just reality....
harbin is right on the money, get more windshield time 1st. Now i dont know what part of the country you're in but if you MUST be a "big straper" take 10-20 of that money and buy a day cab with a wet kit and run local, do some bottom dump work or end dump, you're home everynite and you dont have 50k locked up in a tractor and you'll have a lot more fun while you're at it. Right now is a great time to buy a truck! They are friggin cheap! if you can afford to sit when theres no workthen go for it. If you gotta make a payment............it may get a little ruff for ya so the bottom line 1. you need more exp.destroy someone elses truck 1st then buy your own 2.buy a truck if you can pay cash no payments = profit 3. if you dont work it who cares its payed for
Most decent companies requirehaz mat anyways so good luck. They may not ever pull a havmat load but still want it. With the background checks its just one more way for them to weed out He deadbeats....... And make you pay for it to boo
College is not for me, I hated high school. I love trucking and that's what I'm gonna do, just because times are bad don't mean things don't have to get delivered right now. I'll get more "windshield" time, at least another year and see how things will pan out then.
thats a wise move son, get some more time behind the wheelin the mean time keep your eyes open, a good deal may present itself and you are in a good position to grab it! like i said spend 10 -20K tops! and get a day cab and run some bottom or end dump. Playin the dirt can be a lot of fun. Good luck
quick lesson in business, and i wont charge you. Supply and demand. with losts of fr8 and few trucks to pull it, price goes up. and few fr8 ith lots of trucks to pull it. u guessed it price goes down. and thats where we are presently. as the econemy goes down the tubes, trucking companies dont quite dissapear, they just get paid less. and those who stay on the road, while expenses are higer than profit go broke. don't let that b u!
