I'm kinda leary of butt dyno results, but it feels like there is less response at low rpm (1050-1200). Once boost builds it feels like the power is comparable.

I haven't filled yet, but going by scangauge I got 8.9mpg in the last 1400 miles. 1/2 of that was at 45,000 lb, 1/2 at 63,000 lb. 30' to 3700' to 2300' to 4300' to 30' and back... That is in line with expected mpg, though perhaps a skoosh low. I'll have a better idea after a month

The first hose I check is the one from the compressor to the intake.

If you had overhead run when you put the jakes on, that could be your mpg drop. Mine will drop 2-3 tenths after a overhead.

I've got some graphs/tables Somewhere (that I can't find at the Moment) that Give the BHP produced by "jakes" on various Engines..
From memory the Series 60 produces (regardless of HP rating) 350Hp of Braking effort.
& the ISX/signature (Regardless of Hp setting) produces 600Hp of braking effect.. BISTBC..

the ones made by "Jake", work better than the other makes. You might have gotten better holding power out of an actual Jake brake.

    Perhaps.

Unfortunately, I could not get a Jacobs for my 2000 mk 12.7. It was an oddball model & year, the folks at Jacobs were more interested in their newer applications to be of any help, and ultimately no one stocked the necessary parts except pacbrake.

Anyway, it seems 2100rpm is the upper limit, not 1800 (an extra 17%), which, when combined with 29% more boost, ought to give me nearly 50% more braking power -- an amount more than satisfactory (especially having come from no engine brake at all).

The compression brakes always work better at higher RPMs. Well tell us how it does on your next trip. Good luck keeping it cool (the brakes).

I am 9 years late to this party. How dare they leave me on a cliff hanger like this! Did he survive!? What happens when you take the 60 series to 2100 rpms on a jake brake???

Lots of things could happen. If your Jakes are working properly, and you take RPM's to 2100, and then turn your Jake switch on, and THEN let off the throttle?

    What will happen then?

    Your Jakes come on
