I recieved a speeding ticket back in 2008. Long story short. The ticket went unpaid, therefore a suspension on my license was issued in 2008. I didnt know that. So while participating in a cdl course in Dallas Texas; my suspension came up. This in 2011. I paid the citation. Got my license reinstated. I carried on with the course. My question is.....
How will it take for a company to hire me?

Depends on the company. Many of the starter companies won't hire you, but there are others that will. First, start researching two threads on here : Trucking Jobs and Seeking employment

I've had my license suspended twice, no problems getting jobs. Only one company even questioned me on it and had no problem.
1st one was non-payment of ticket : Wife sent it in electronically on the last day, but it didn't post till 2 days later, so late fee went unpaid.
2nd was for state re-testing. Seems WA state allows for non DOT testers and they randomly recheck folks who were tested by contractors. Odd part was they wanted to retest my Class B/passenger which I'd never put on my license (lost the paperwork and was already hired). -
I was suspended for a few months due to not maintaining insurance (screwup with direct debit account number). Other than that, I have ZERO accidents in 26 years of driving and ZERO moving violations in 5 years. Werner will not hire me because I have a suspension within last 3 years. Period. Screw it. Their loss I guess.

'08 is fairly recent for a speeding ticket and MIGHT give you a problem at some companies. I would personally call come companies and find out. You should have done this before you went back to school.

Please tell me who would have an issue with a five year old speeding ticket so I know NEVER to work for them. That is utter b.s. -
When Stevens hired me I had an at fault fender bender 10 months prior, and a. Suspension 6 months prior for non payment. I was just upfront with them and they said it was no problem.

A five year old with a speeding ticket? How did he even reach the pedals???
Heheheheheee
MikeeeeGiggles the Original and double_r Thank this. -
LOL. My little brother sped backwards down the driveway when he was 4. Didn't need pedals, he just pulled the stick into N.

Reason will make a difference, as will the company. E.g., the last company I drove for wouldn't hire you if you had a suspension in the last five years, and if your suspension is for driving on a license which was suspended, that charge racks up enough points that you'll probably have to wait three years for it to clear off of your MVR.
