    Good afternoon,

I had started my owner operator truck business and my cousin wanted to join me by buying his truck and adding it to my authority and pay me a percentage. Also pay his share of the insurance but he is in florida and I am in Georgia. He is also leasing his truck from a company. Do he need to register his truck as personal then add or can he just add it to my company and use my tags?

Lease agreement / Loan agreement, clear Title, it doesn’t matter. He can put a plate in your name on his Truck. Different State no problem. Lease agreement between you two should spell that out. Along with any other charge backs paid by you like Insurance, Fuel Taxes etc. You can pay everything except HUT 2290. He has to pay that in his or his company’s name. Depending on if he’s a Doke Proprietor or a Corp.Might need a copy of the Lease agreement between you two when buying/assigning the plate. I know for sure if he was buying it in his name in Florida, he would need a copy. Call Georgia IRP. Ask them. Should be very helpful.

If you are asking this, just maybe you either need to get an advisor for the authority (OOIDA) or need to rethink your business.
