I know this is an unusual complaint but I want far less miles than I am getting. I am currently averaging 3200 per week. I would prefer around 2500 but not sure how to ask without looking lazy. Also I don't want them to drop below 2000-2200. Is it a bad idea to bring it up at all? I am stuck with the company for 4 more months and don't want a bad relationship with dispatch...
How to ask for less miles.

If you already have a decent relationship with your dispatcher, just ask them if they can slow it down a bit, and discuss it either over Qualcomm or the phone. I'm sure someone there will appreciate the extra miles that you were getting, and it's likely that someone is asking for more miles as well
Dominick253 and wise2727 Thank this. -
Just let your dispatcher know you're getting burned out. I've done it before and they sent me home for a 3 day weekend

What are you going to do with all those extra hours. Sit in the seat and make money vs sit on the mattress and spend money. Hmmm what to choose?
Dumdriver, Lepton1, TROOPER to TRUCKER and 2 others Thank this. -
The thing is I've seen guys that get a bit burned out, myself included, and they need to take a slower/more relaxed pace for a few weeks.CJndaTruck and Dominick253 Thank this. -

I have to agree with @STexan ... There is not much to do on the road with your down time so might as well be sitting earning than sitting spending.
And not sure about the "four months left" with the company comment but you are leaving for whatever reason you might as well make hay while the sun is shining.
But yes, if you are feeling that you are burning out then touch base with your dispatcher... Might get a few light days before the miles kick in again or ask for some home time to reset a bit.
And you are right, with so many drivers out here complaining about not getting miles, I might suggest reevaluating the situation and see if a more positive spin could be put on it... Between too many and too few, count your blessings.

Be careful what you wish for. But if you're at a job that is optimized for the drivers to "run", maybe you and your current carrier would be best served if you went elsewhere where the logistics model better suits your driving preference.

What company are you for? Where is your terminal located at?

Thank you everyone for the input. I will talk to my dispatcher about shaving a few miles off. I had to sign a contract with them due to being a new driver and they paid for my schooling, that's the reason for the 4 months comment. In all honesty I will probably stay after that but am concerned about creating a bad situation that I can't leave. I don't think my fm is the type to hold a grudge over something like that though
Dominick253 Thanks this.
