We need good brokers... in fact my best friend is considering going to school for it and brokering as well. He is a business man straight up but he would be great. So far, I have found they have to get authority as a broker, there are schools offered (which one to use is a coin toss) and a bond needed. The min bond is 10g but even as our GL is concerned our min is 750k but I have 3m for 120 more a year.... It is always beneficial to get way more than needed specially starting out as a new broker. It will make them look better to drivers when they check on him to know there is enough to cover if he tries to screw them... (not that he would but a lot of O/O's have to think that way)

Make sure you have money in the bank too... You'll be paying drivers before you get paid by customers...

i am working on a brokerage authority right now since some of my customers require to have a bond even though i've moved loads for them in the past without a bond...since i have my own authority i was told that all i would need to do is to post a bond of 10k and MC number stays the same, however im looking at the whole deal since i am going to have my fiance doing the brokerage side so i want to get a whole different name + McNumber...i am sure theres more paperwork to it but like i said i have my accountant working on it so i'll let you know how later on in more details once i get everything set up

    Cheers

Ours is completely separate. If you broker a load out, and the driver dumps the load off the trailer and kills someone and his insurance doesn't cover- they'll come after you. Best not have all of your eggs in one basket...

all the trucks/trailers under one insurance liability and cargo, so if i just start brokering my own loads on my own trucks and like you said somebody gets killed it would be under my isurance regardless.

post the name of the site no www. or .com .net whatever afterwards and you will be fine. Just no linking and it is primarily against linking to competitors etc. but I would like the info as well and do not have enough posts yet to be able to PM.
