How to contest parking citation in Compton, CA?

    Hi all, today i have got a parking citation in Compton, CA
    i have parked next to curb on the right side of the street that has no sign "No Parking"
    the street is next to Crystal Casino - Towne Center Dr behind Best Buy. We were at least 6 bobtails and 2 RVs. I have told that i cannot park at the casino parking but i can do it on the street. The citation is pretty "fat" - 3 violations:
    12-3.15 - Parking Prohibited
    12-3.19 - Comercial vehicle parking restricted
    12-2.30(d) - No parking of trucks on the truck route

    I need advice.
    I guess the the offic@r was in a period.
    when I got it i saw two sheriff officers ladies close by so I went to check up with them because they are local, their office is at the plaza next to Best Buy and Ross. What they said that that citation is not from their office and they never bother any truck parked there. Their advise was to contest the citation.

    my question is:
    What is the best way to do it?
    Do i go there bymyself or i need attorney to fight it?
    the amount for all three violations is 300$ before the 21st day, after that will go up to 500$

    any advice is appresiated!!!

    A lawyer will cost you near that alone so there isn't much point in hiring one for something that doesn't show on your driving record. I guess if you can be there on the right day you can show up and see if the officer bothers coming in. If they don't it gets dismissed.

    Ouch, that sucks. I feel your pain, but if all I received in Compton was parking violations and wasn't shot i'd call it a good day.

    If your trk is not regesitered in calif , just dont pay it ..This state can not withhold out of state regestration and they dont issue warrants for parking tickets..just throw your citation in the trash

    I don't know about Compton, but some cities can impound the vehicle for failure to pay parking tickets if they find the vehicle in their city again. I still get a letter from Indiana every couple years telling me they'll impound my old Toyota pickup for a parking ticket 11 years ago that I never paid if they see it again. I haven't had the truck for 10 years so I'm not too worried.

    should have asked the officer where the no parking signs are.He could have just let you off with a warning.Clearly that this is one of many officers that hate trks.If you try fighting it and lose,you'll be out all that money a lawyer would charge.I would'nt think those parking violations will tarnish your mvr much.

    parking tickets, left unpaid, in some areas....

    result in warrents being issued !!

    and license / registration suspension !!!!!

    Ain't that the truth? I think I'd rather chance a log violation than park in Compton.

    Thats good advice about throwing it away I have done that to a few parking tickets, its not like they show up on your mvr..
