If you can go to court. They will usually let you pay one and dismiss two. Plea bargaining is a normal part of the court process. The city i work for if u fail to pay your parking ticket we turn them over to court for prosecution. They will suspend your dl for not appearing or paying.

Do you run a reefer from Chicago to LA? Good luck btw I hope you beat it. Parking tickets should be illegal.

If nothing else this is a good thread for others. Compton is quite the opposite. They tell you everywhere a truck can go. If it's not posted it's okay it's prohibited.

    g. Notwithstanding any other provisions of this Code to the contrary, violations of subsections 12-2.21, 12-2.27a., 1., 2., 3., 4., and 5., 12-2.29, 12-2.30d., 12-2.30e., and 12-2.41 of this Code shall be punishable by the following fines:
    1. If a court appearance is made or bail is posted within the time set forth in the notice of citation of violation, forty ($40.00) dollars; and
    2. If no appearance is made nor the required bail posted as set forth in paragraph g,1. of this subsection after notice is given pursuant to Section 41103.5 of the Vehicle Code of the State but before a Notice of Intent is issued, sixty-five ($65.00) dollars; and
    3. If a Notice of Intent is issued, one hundred ($100.00) dollars shall be assessed.

    OUCH!! A money grab!

    Double Jeopardy!

Notwithstanding any other provision of this Code to the contrary, violations of subsections 12-3.3c, 12-3.3d, 12-3.3e and 12-3.15 of this Code shall be punishable by the following fines:
    1. If a court appearance is made or bail is posted within the time set forth in the notice of citation of violation, forty-five ($45.00) dollars, and
    2. If no appearance is made nor the required bail posted as set forth in paragraph p,1 of this subsection after notice is given pursuant to Section 41103.5 of the Vehicle Code of the State but before a Notice of Intent is issued, ninety ($90.00) dollars; and
    3. If a Notice of Intent is issued, one hundred thirty-five ($135.00) dollars shall be assessed.

You save $70 for showing up in court. I guess they want to see you when they put it to you! You can't beat towns like this. I see Boss Hogg!

My advice is to always contest a ticket but bring evidence (photos or video) of the area where you were parked to show it is not posted "no parking" if that is the case.

That forces the officer who wrote the citation to take time off from his day to appear, it's going to cost you time and court fees (it's all about money, after all) and, if the officer doesn't show, your tickets will be dropped. Do not 'settle' for reduced citations as they will attempt to do that if the officer does not show up. Have the charges tossed and you might even file for reimbursement from the police department for loss of pay and court costs if you really want to become a thorn.

I did it and the next time the police officer stopped me in 'his town'... he said, "Oh,... it's you. Get out of my town" and walked away.

BTW... I lived there at the time. Tell me that didn't piss him off seeing me in the morning at the local cafe having breakfast or coffee. (big smile).

    Just sayin'

Read his post again. He said there was no "No Parking" sign. I'm really tired of people not reading the posts they're commenting on.....:biggrin_25522:

Did you read my post? I posted Compton law. All streets in Compton are restricted to truck traffic except Atlantic Ave and where it is posted it is okay. They don't have to post it's not okay because the whole town is restricted to truck traffic.

Look at the casino on Google Earth. There is absolutely no possible place to park on any street near the casino. Especially where he described behind Best Buy. There is a paid parking lot there you see one truck. Then from street view you see another truck in the same lot.

If they were parked on a street they were in the lane of travel. It sounds more like monkey see monkey do to me and they all got in trouble.

If anyone wants to go to a casino in the LA area go to the Commerce Casino in Commerce off I-5. It's not far from that casino. Get off on Telegraph Road at Washington. Drive past the casino and make the first immediate right beside the casino. As soon as you turn look to your left is your spot. You can park right beside that palm trees and brick building which is the end of a warehouse for the casino. You have to pull in the far end of the parking lot and slowly back between all the cars to get to that spot. It's easy and security has no problem with trucks parking there. I've done it a hundred times. It's actually peaceful camping out there and safe because of security. Plus you get free meals at the tables if you play poker. Fun place.

I use to take the 710 and get off at exit 17C which is East Washington. Go east which was left I think? Cross under I-5 and the road beside is Telegraph. Turn left and the casino is right there on your right. Pass it and turn on that road beside it like I said above.

Actually, if it's not posted, it's not enforceable and 'posting Compton law' would be acceptable and enforceable.

People who drive into such towns are not privy to written (not posted) ordinances and therefore have good reason to object to fines without having been notified in some way. Even a sign at the edge of town suffices as to the rules of entry "no hand held cellphone use"... "No Commercial Vehicles exceeding 10,000 lbs except for local deliveries"... bridge weight restrictions too are required to be posted, not merely legislated.

You are well within your right to fight against ordinances not available or provided to the public.

    Nuff said.
