no Apu? I’m idling. Don’t want me to idle? Put an apu. Most of the times I don’t need the apu on but there are days where it gets so humid it could be only 70 degrees and it’s not comfortable. And then there’s winter. If the truck doesn’t have a bunk heater of some sort you’ll bet I’m idling. Especially if the temp hits below a point where diesel starts to gel.

When I was active I absolutely refused to operate a truck that did not have an APU. I once told the man that assigned tractors this once. He said had 2 tractors available. One had an APU the other one did not. I got there too late and the only truck left was the non APU unit. I called a cab for a ride to a hotel. It's mighty funny how an APU equipped tractor all the sudden appeared that next morning. I was about to rent a car and head back to Georgia. Somebody there got religion. My FM called me and said that truck had been added to his fleet. Oh and they picked up the bill for my taxi and the hotel.
