It doesn't say it there, but it does say the carrier has to give you permission and if it's not written then it doesn't exist and therefore it would still be on duty technically, cause the driver is still responsible.
The problem is the company probably won't give you permission because that makes the company responsible.
Optional for the company NOT the driver.
