I have written in the past that I work for Werner and the time has come to think about moving on. How do I deal with the low pay they shove at us? I barely make enough to cover the groceries I carry on my truck, let alone pay my bills.
Due to the money problems, I find myself dealing with huge amount of discontent at honey over money and time and not being compensated at a decebt level.
I need suggestions. A few steps I am taking is trying to find a job outside the industry where I can still use my "A", like shagging at a warehouse and doing whatever else has to be done. It is an hourly position and I hope to get it, but I feel I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place and the situation is only getting worse.
I just need to know that there might be answers to these wuestions that I am not seeing for myself.

You can stick it out and hope things get better or you can quit. It's not a choice you make by flipping a coin or asking a stranger.

40 grand ain't squat for a truck driver.... that is rookie pay.

It isnt gonna get better at werner pay wise....EVER it will always be one of the low paying companies, because of there revolving door of drivers. Don't work for one of these companies in the first place is the best option. Are you complaining that the pay AT THIS TIME OF YEAR is sub-standard or the pay HAS BEEN POOR SINCE THE START?
Most of the bad parts of trucking are only really treatable at the time you are selecting whom to work for. Once you sign on with company X you will get what company X provides and that's that. This is why I've gotten so frustrated "talking" to newbies and wannabes. They select the companies that experienced drivers won't work for due to various factors, claim they will just stay with the poor companies to get experience and move on, and then ask how to fix the factors that cause most drivers to choose never to work for that company. You can't jump into the shark tank and expect not to be bitten if you do the right thing. You prevent the shark bite by not jumping into the shark tank.
What exactly are the options you think other drivers can tell you about working for your company? Are you asking us if there is some trick to getting more miles, more cents per mile, what companies pay better, or how to cope with the seasonal slowdown common in the industry near this time of year. The more specific you can be about what help you are looking for the better answers some of us can try to provide. You mention several options but I'm not clear if you are asking how to fix oyur company, how to leave your company properly, or where to work when you leave your current company.
Stay at your current company until you have determined exactly where you will work next, how to satisfy the currnet company you have met all obligations, and know enough about your next company to know it's an improvement over your current company. Don't hop jobs and HOPE it get's better. I would suggest not being careful and informed enough is how most drivers with the "training companies" get in trouble in the first place.
I generally recommend you look at trucking companies near your home. Find out what they require to hire a new driver, and talk things over with their drivers over time so you can get a better picture of the new company before you make the change. I suspect many drivers in a bad spot just roll the dice and hope it works, that will set you up for even bigger problems but you can make the change quicker than being careful as I suggest. -
