OTR will bring to the surface the weak link in a marriage. Better to find out while you're relatively young, than later and have to give up half your retirement to an ex-wife.
Just contact each other every day is all it takes; if that won't keep the marriage together, it was doomed anyway.
You'll hear all the crap about you should be local or LTL for the sake of the children, etc. but in reality, if those jobs are so wonderful and conducive to a strong marriage, those companies wouldn't be advertising for drivers 24/7 year after year. If you have job satisfaction, your marriage will be stronger.
If an OTR drivers wife has affairs, she would do the same if he was local and home every day; she would just be more discreet.

this is a very difficult question to answer. because there is so many types of trucking. otr, regional, local. snot to mention how strong the marriage is and is the wife going to wait for you or not. people say do a year or two otr but you dont got to. sometimes you could find a local gig right away. and yes even with the megas.

My advice, talk to your wife often about it even after you've taken an OTR job. She might be all for it to start, but hate it more as time goes by. It's good that you have a 2 year plan. There are some companies that will let you bring her if that's possibe but good communication is key...
