I disagree I run with you from time to time. I'm not letting you travel this road solo. Beep Beep coyote :D:D. All the best on this journey together

A couple of weeks ago you got a speeding ticket heading out to orientation... Almost lost the opportunity to train with current company. The next Monday they said you could stay and now, a few days later, you're homesick.
Maybe trucking isn't your cup of tea after all.
Or we are being trolled by a soap opera writer...

While I agree, that ain't always true. That depends on a lot of factors. What should be said is the most direct way to get to where you want to be is to do a year OTR.

I gotta day I don’t agree with those that say you shouldn’t get married and drive a truck. I been married 24 years to the same woman.......cow mobilin isn’t easy on a relationship. I have seen her drive 8 hours just to do my laundry while I slept in the truck, I got to see the kids for a bit. Thick or thin she has been there without question. Was she crazy about truckin after she really seen what it was no she wasn’t. Still isn’t to be honest. Does she appreciate it? Absolutely.....

if things are right there are no worries. If you gotta worry even for a minute they ain’t right. I ain’t saying I was never homesick or it was all roses and posey peddles. Started in the days of pay phones and the phones on the tables.....calling cards etc. when I got a cell phone she was afraid to call because she wasn’t sure if I was truckin or sleeping. Sleep is something that wasn’t real plentiful with my line of work. Figure out what works and stick to it

Thats one of the down sides of trucking. And there is no real way to prepare yourself for it. It does get easier and but it takes time. I talk to my loved one on the phone several times a day, and if I am not driving I use DUO for video chat as I have an android. This helps, but obviously its not the same as in person.

I leave on Sunday, I’m back Thursday or Friday. Can have more time off with a weeks notice. Generally I stick to the routine though.

It’s easy now with cell phones, and cell phone planes with free long distance (remember long distance charges ?)
And unlimited minutes (remember when it cost per minute ?)
and you had to stop and find a phone , and punch in the number and the 18 digit calling card , and it cost 40 cents
A minute or something like that so you didn’t do a lot of idle #### chat .

then when the nationwide pagers came along for $45 a month we thought that was fantastic.
Now your dispatcher or family could contact you in an emergency , with a 27 character text message .

when I started trucking , I would call my wife on Tuesday and Friday between 7 and 8 PM

I was usually gone for a week or so at a time.

You remind me of listening in on the sideband marine operator. Guy on a ship or offshore oil rig calls his wife. She: “oh honey! I’m aching for you to get home!” He: “be careful honey. We’re on sideband. They can hear us all over the world”. She: “ I don’t care!”

Seriously... FaceTime seems pretty good for talking with someone.
