That is how you make room so you can change lanes.

Back off the throttle, slow down 5 mph and let them pass when there is an opportunity. Slow down 10-15 mph if it's another truck on a two-lane highway. I don't want 100,000-130,000 pounds coming through my back door.

Pull an oversized load and pass a motorhome on a 2 lane road and watch them go from the zipper to the fog line quicker than you can blink. Got behind one the other day that would only do 50 mph on Highway 2. His limit was 70 and mine 60. And it is a straight flat road between Malta and Havre.

Well the cdl manual says to slow down enough until they pass you. Seems like the best logical way to deal with them. If someone wants to tailgate a truck doing 30mph in 55+ then ok they must be missing some marbles.

I have PLENTY of ground clearance, so when I find someone without that luxury drafting like we're @ Talladega, I like to look for objects in the road...gators, deer carcasses, etc...stuff that will EASILY slip beneath my truck, but won't be so kind to their ride. Not my problem.

I noticed a pickup and trailer flying up behind me hauling an old corn head. Guy was probably doing 15-20 mph faster than I was so I wasn't going to change lanes for the car on the shoulder, it looked empty and no flashers.

Guy would have had plenty of time to go around and still leave me with time to move over but nope. Runs right up to my bumper and then slows down, nobody in the passing lane, air head. Hangs back there just long enough for us to pass the car on the shoulder, lol. That corn head had all the overhang on the right and almost hit the car with it. I see him back there swerving around a bit and finally guns it to pass with a flailing arm and probably cussing.

You guessed it, no numbers, no flags, etc...
