I wouldn't mind living somewhere else other than Kentucky, but me and my wife have 4 children and my wife really likes the homeschooling laws here.

If I could get in with Trimac, that would be perfect. I'm sure you can imagine how tricky it would working for a regional company 5 hours from home.....coming home some weeks, staying at the hotel others...and then eventually trying to squeeze a move in and then back to work for a week. Doable, but tough.

I have 7 children, so I understand about moving. My oldest one is 52 and the youngest is 8. It's funny when people ask if he's my great grandchild. His brother is 12. Yep they're mine and have the DNA to prove it.
I got tired of dealing with winter in Tennessee. I know it's mild winters compared to other parts of the country, but I just got tired of it, so moved to Las Vegas.
I'm familiar with Owensboro & Madisonville. Hauled a few loads of tobacco scrap out Owensboro and took it to some cigarette manufacturer in North Carolina. Years ago they buried the tobacco scrap in land fills, but eventually saw it as a money maker and started using it in cigarettes and pipe tobacco.

That works out to $865 a week before taxes. I think that's a good paycheck first year.
If I made 60 a year, doing tankers, and I am not sure how possible that is...that's 1153 a week. But at the expense of being gone all week.

I think my wife would like me doing a beer truck. She thinks I would get a lot of exercise and it would help keep me in shape.

I don't know about all driving, but tankers, you get paid full, and you get paid empty. And I think they are dedicated runs.

$60K weekly is about average with tankers. Some Trimac drivers make over $100K per year, but that's after 24 months experience and qualifying for the "Elite Fleet." They don't all make that much, but the ones with the strongest work ethic and hustle do. A couple of them post on here at times.
I made $65K pulling hazmat/tankers and a few of the drivers made $72K. Paid the same empty or loaded. My pay was below average there because I took time off for travel overseas. That company doesn't hire in your area though.

Can't really negotiate with trucking companies as to pay. Tanker work is easy and making $60K is the norm and on the low side.
I wouldn't drive a beer truck or soft drink truck for $100K per year; it's not worth destroying your back.

@Cranky Yankee Moonshine state is hands down North Carolina. But yeah, you got a point. We live in a dry town. Never even heard of the term where I grew up in california. Get this, one time I went to a ABC store in NC that also has a lot of dry areas, and the person who was helping me at the ABC store said she didn't drink. /facepalm

@Chinatown What is tanker truck work like? I was thinking it would be 1-2 long drives a week and home on weekends. That is considered "regional" right?
