Give them space, make sure you plan your move and get passed them than make sure you get over when you are far enough away from them.

if you know you are going to exit soon, just stay behind them until you exit, nothing more stupid than cutting them off to get off the freeway.

Just tell them to do “whatever it takes”. Just like the driving schools teach them. It is best to be first and be ahead of everything. Pull out in front of, cut off close, pass while truck is still making a turning maneuver. and if need be pass on the right sidewalk or shoulder to get around the truck and most importantly BE FIRST!

I tell family members not to hang out around them, stay back, or carefully pass. Don’t whip around the right side, or pull in front and stop at a light. The Driver May be new, and inexperienced. You never know what’s going to fly out at you. Blown tire or rocks. I read a story 35 yrs ago, about a young mother killed by a large rock stuck between duals. Freak accident, baby wasn’t injured.

Bingo! For YEARS, I've told friends and family, STAY AWAY FROM THE TRUCKS!( the last one in a backup, keep your eye on the rear view mirror, too) I think the biggest problem with 4 wheelers, is they don't know what a truck is going to do, are distracted and often times find themselves just in the wrong place. It's why YOU have to look out for THEM,,not t'other way 'round. Far as a rock in the duals, we were just talking about that on another thread, it's the drivers responsibility to make sure coming from off road, there are no rocks in the duals. As far as your example, tragic, but we can't have zero risk. When you get up in the morning, you can't forget, a truck tire may coming flying over the median wall, or a jet engine panel falls from the sky, you can't forget that, and it may just give you the edge needed to survive that, rather than playing video games on the highway.

The longer I’m out here driving, I hate to say this, but the more I realize we do indeed need self driving cars because the people behind the steering wheel are not driving at all. It’s like their last priority when they sit in the driver seat. It’s absolutely astonishing what I see go on out here. I’m averaging about six times per day on a 5 to 600 mile typical day of having people cut in front of me less than 5 feet away from my front bumper. On average about once per month I have to tap my brake to prevent them from literally sideswiping me as they bob and weave in and out of lanes. I’m sure you all experienced the same. I want to ask them if they’re suicidal or something. Often times people will cut and change lanes just a few feet in front of me with nobody even pressuring them from behind.

Merging onto the freeway. I get this a couple times a day. They come down the on ramp. They’re a good quarter mile in front of me already going faster and then they decide to slow down. Lol. I don’t play that game. If you’re too stupid to figure out how to merge I’m gonna keep going. Then they get on the freeway and come up behind you and pass you and give you the middle finger. All the while they could’ve been 3 miles up the road in front of me. Never even had to encounter me at all.. I think deep down inside these people are actually mad at themselves because they know how stupid they are. And they’re just angry that a truck is there at all.

next is when I’m pulling out of like a truckstop or something. Usually a 35 mph zone. Some idiot in a pick up truck usually flying down the 35 mph road at 70 mph comes from around the corner and he has to slow down and wait for me. If you had of been going 35 mph heck even 45 mph I would’ve been pulled out in my lane and he wouldn’t of had to slow down. Same thing, they get mad, honk, often given the finger…when it was them going double the limit that caused the encounter..

i’ve grown to love it when I’m passing a truck and the vehicle behind me in the fast lane is having a panic attack. They switch over to the slow lane racing up to try to cut between. They don’t quite get there in time and I can see them in my mirror cursing and waving their hands all over the place. I’m not talking about a slow pass, I’m talking about a typical 20 to 30 second wait time. They act as if their life is going to end. They’re going to die. Aliens are gonna snatch them out of their car if they don’t get around me in the next five seconds. Back-and-forth from lane to lane they go like it’s gonna make a difference. When I encounter these idiots I can’t lie. Every once in a while I’ll let off the throttle just a tad bit to take an extra half a minute or so. Then if they go by I look over and smile. I didn’t start out this way but after dealing with idiots for four years, it just is a normal human progression I think.

no I don’t do anything stupid like brake check people, tailgate people, but if I can slow down a bit and apparently ruined the life of someone who has to be somewhere in three seconds, I might just do it. Every now and then. :)

Do not camp in the left lane two car lengths behind me. Pass or get back in the right lane!

Stop hanging out in the left lane worshipping your smartphone for 80 miles only to dart in front of a semi-truck, slam on your brakes to make your exit so you can buy a $19 cup of coffee. 90% of car/SUV drivers drive this way every single day, so much it seems normal to them. If you have an exit or turn nearing GET BEHIND SOMEONE, not force your way into the 3 inches in front of a vehicle that ways 16 times as much as your vehicle and then slam on your brakes.

4-wheelers cause 80% of car and semi-truck crashes. Fortunately, he drivers of cars/SUVs are the ones killed, not the innocent truck driver.

Car drivers only kill 35,000 people every year. They must be doing something wrong.

If you're driving and it's darkening or raining turn your #### lights on not just the Daytime running lights......it helps to avoid getting crunched......Also when passing a truck turn your high beams down they shine right into our mirror and faces...dangerous for me and you to be blinded......also grow a brain and pay attention to driving not eating or makeup....
