I'm new to the industry and have 6 drivers. Business is scarce. My company is out of Nova Scotia, Canada. I have been diligently searching online for "Exports Nova Scotia" or beyond and it seems impossible. There must be a resource on the internet where I can find clients and in doing so, not playing dirty or undercutting my competitors. I know enough not to circumvent other operators. Making enemies - even though they are competitors is a death sentence in this industry. I know that much. So, how to find clients without playing dirty pool is the question. The internet is a pain in the rear end. A needle in a haystack.
I doubt anyone can help. Due to the fact that search values from State to State, Province to Province differ like night and day. But perhaps someone here has a simple suggestion of a tool that can help. Most certainly, I do not want anyone in here who currently has a thriving business to let me in on industry secrets that would cause them to lose business. I'm hoping to find a fair game/fair play option.
Beyond that, thank you for allowing me on to the forum. I look forward to many chats and the exchange of ideas.
Thank you and good truckin'

Pickup the phone and call people who move freight. What problems do they have that you can solve?

Drive around and look for buildings with docks, industrial parks, etc.
But how on earth are you new to the industry with 6 drivers?Brettj3876, D.Tibbitt, JoeyJunk and 3 others Thank this. -
You've done things backwards and should have figured out how to find freight before getting into the industry. Especially during a pandemic.
JoeyJunk Thanks this. -
I obtained the business from my nephew so I have clientele. I should have clarified that I was looking for new leads.
Coffey Thanks this. -

A car, a full tank of gas, a couple of boxes of donuts, shoe leather, and the gift of gab.
To quote Bosch: "get of your ### and go knock on doors". Dial for dollars, whatever it takes, you need to start talking to people about what they need done. Figure on 100 "no's" before the first "yes".black_dog106, 86scotty, Midwest Trucker and 2 others Thank this. -
I think your best bet to find customers is buy a subscription to a load board (Loadlink is biggest in Canada) and have drivers run loads off there. Eventually you will find dedicated or repetitive lanes for companies and you can deal with the directly on a regular basis. You can also find brokers off there that can find loads for your drivers.

Sell 5 trucks, or park them near NYC and they will disappear. Take the money/insurance money and put it in savings. Drive the one truck. In a year you'll either have enough work to eat or the savings will be gone.
A guy who doesn't know this industry REALLY well with 6 trucks and drivers is headed straight off a cliff. Try not to take those other 6 poor guys with you.
