*Choose one and search for a review of the device on your favorite search engine (i.e. Google)
and/or
*Choose your favorite online store that carries GPS's (mine is amazon.com). Read the customer reviews and take into account the positives and negatives given by the owners of the device in the customer reviews.
*Compare the features of each of the GPS's you may like. No two GPS's are the same. Some have more or less trucking features. Some have high-def screens. Some Screens are 5" while others are 7". Some have lifetime traffic and map updates and so on. Be sure to try them in person.
Decide whats right for you.
*Keep this in mind*
Regardless of the brand name of the GPS or how highly its review rating, map data is not always 100% accurate. That means the unit might not have every restricted road or all bridge heights out there. Truck GPS units are accurate most of the time, but not all of the time. The truck GPS manufacturers are trying to provide reliable truck routes, and they are constantly updating the road data. A GPS is just a tool and the driver still has to follow road signs and other safe driving habits and should never solely depend on a GPS unit.
Bottom line is that a truck GPS will help you get to your destination, but for safety's sake, remember, you're still responsible for obeying all road signs, bridge heights and restricted areas. A truck GPS is just another tool of the trade. Use it to help get you where you need to go..
