This has happened to me many times... and I've reached my boiling point.
Where the actually touch screen shuts off but the device is still on... keypad lights and all.
When I turn off/on the truck it doesn't change anything..
Randomly after a few hours the screen turns back on by itself.
This whole thing is an issue because I can't access hours of service or my load workflow during the time the screen acts up.

Is there anyway to fix this or do a hard reset/cutting the power on the device?

    thanks

I have this issue randomly as well. Nothing you can do about it, software updating at server side and updating files at your end.
Always happens at most inopportune times to me.

Our company just upgraded q-comm software and it seems that something always updating now.

Aren't there any settings menu's that you can get into and maybe prolong the time "on" of the screen? Updating should be able to take place 24/7/365 and not interrupt the operator?

I don't think it's from updating at least for me.
It usually only happens when the unit goes from on to off or off to on where only the freaking keypad lights up and nothing else.

When I had a frightshaker there was a battery kill switch to the entire truck next to my seat, when it happened (though rare) with my other unit simply killing the power source did the trick.
Have a Kenworth now and such a switch doesn't exist or I can't find it.

Pretty sure it's the power down timer / timeout setting. On some of the old ones, the driver could set the values / preferences on the console to resolve this. If this is a newer omni tracs version, not sure if this is still an option as I haven't used one.

Thing to do is take it to the companies shop and they'll put another QUALCOMM in your truck..

    G.Anthony Thanks this.

I personally have requested a new q-comm to no avail. Same old tired excuse.

I just deal with it. Tired of dealing haha

Find where the unit is and unplug it or disconnect the red battery cables.
