Hi Guys,
I went into get an alignment - and the Tech said -on the Leaf Spring - the
** back part he called the Shackle of the Spring Eye was BAD
he said both sides were bad on the BACK of the leaf Spring and needed to be
replaced.
How is the best way to get this fixed --- they quoted about $1.200 to get replaced
bushing for shackle hanger - both are bad
QUESTION IS - WHAT WOULD BE A EXPECTED REPAIR COST FOR THIS PROJECT
Thanks in Advance
How to Fix - Went in for Alignment and they said - Shackle of Spring EYE

Your post is too generic and does not contain enough information to come to any relative conclusion.
Is this a Volvo sedan or coupe? Smart ### aside........I think you get the point here.
Are we talking steering axle or drive?
What were you quoted $1200 to repair? Just spring pins and bushings replaced?..Or.......All 6 or just 2?........or........ New springs, shackles, ubolts hangers and alignment included?
This can go many different ways as you can see.
More info will get you some intelligent responses. -
If it's just spring eye bushings sounds a little high, if it's complete spring replacement, sounds a little low. If you're not in a certified spring shop, that's where you need to be. Where are you located and who is doing the work?
JerryD13 Thanks this. -
Should be about half that amount, but labour ain't cheap nowadays.
JerryD13 Thanks this. -

DENVER, COLORADO - IT IS A CERTIFIED SPRING SHOP - THIS IS ONLY TO REPAIR
THE BUSHINGS - BOTH SIDES - DID NOT INCLUDE THE ALIGNMENT - THATS WHY I WENT THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE - BUT .. I HAD AN ISSUE I THOUGHT WAS ALIGNMENT ..Tombstone69 Thanks this. -
Jerry,
What symptom are you trying to correct with an alignment? While the spring pins/bushings may be worn and in need of replacement, it is unlikely that replacing them will change the steering angles enough to correct a wear or drivability complaint. Did you mention your complaint to the shop?......or just that you wanted it aligned?
These questions are important to ask before approving the work, rather that getting it back to find out it's not going to correct your complaint.Tombstone69 and JerryD13 Thank this. -

Yes Sir - I had one Steer tire - that was wearing and I would feel a slight pull once in a while
the shop is definitely Pro Level - the tech that was going to do the alignment showed me
the leaf spring bushing - it was moving around. ---> (going to renegotiate tomorrow to include an alignment)Tombstone69 and Goodysnap Thank this. -
How to change leaf spring pins and bushings on a Big Truck
npok and Diesel Dave Thank this. -
Depends on the miles highly advise to replace spring as front bushings go as well. All in with new springs and bushings would be around 1700. I think it would be worth to spend extra money to get all new #### and not worry about it again but just my .02
Snailexpress, Rob100100, Bakerman and 2 others Thank this.
