So I'm getting out of the military after 4yrs in the Marines and multiple combat deployments.
I have had my CDL A since 2007 but no experience. I have Tanker, Hazmat, Doubles/Triples Endorsements and currently working on my TWIC Card. I also have my forklift certification. I have a clean MVR and no felonies or anything like that. Clean as a whistle.
I also have a B.S in Engineering Science, but I been into trucks since I was a little kid
I'm heading down to National Training Inc in a few weeks to do there 3 week truck driver course, paid courtesy of Uncle Sam.
I'm moving back to NY/NJ and would like to do either LTL or yanking Tankers. Something that keeps me pretty local, as I'm planning to go back to college in the fall, but most places need some kind of verifiable experience. I wouldnt mind working the dock/driving so either would be fine for me.
Any pointers from the veteran drivers herwe?
How to get a foot in the Door?
