Food Haulers is Wakeferns main fleet out of their Newark/Elizabeth DC area. JED Trucking also works out of their too. NTS I think works out of Dayton. JED and Iron Clad Logistics works out of Brenigsville PA I believe. All of them are union gigs. They're all pretty hard to get in too, especially Food Haulers and NTS. You have to know somebody to land a gig with them...both as a company driver and O/O. That's why you'll never see any job listings for Food Haulers. Not even a website where you can put an application in. Either you know someone on the inside or somehow get the director of safety/ transportations number...which is Bill. Pay starts off around $19 an hour...which may be difficult to handle, especially for the high cost of living in Jersey...and it takes 5 years to reach top rate, which is over $30 an hour. Last I heard, they're around $34 an hour I believe. JED on the other hand is payed by trip pay and they start you off at top rate. Similar to the way ACME and SuperValu is paid where if you do a 12 hour run in 9, you still get paid for 12. Benefits at Food Haulers and JED I've been told is suppose to be better than UPS. JED, you'll start off making more than Food Haulers in the beginning, but in the long run, you'll make more at Food Haulers. JED, you'll also have dedicated start times whereas Food Haulers, you'll probably start off on call, floater or extraboard. JED and Iron Clad Logistics will sometimes have job listings that'll be posted. Food Haulers and NTS...FUHGETTABOUTIT!!! You'll never see anything posted for them. -
I just spoke to an O/O with food haulers inc. Hes grossing 7500/wk. Theres a union & benefits. They pay your ezpass. O/O pays for workers comp. Truck cant be older than 6 yrs & they ask for 6 yrs exp. Also, claims its hard to get in. So , it might be a long wait. Starts at 10pm, which is great unless you like dealing with north jersey traffic everyday..He couldnt tell me how to apply though. Definitely worth the time trying to get in.
