Ok I'm pretty ignorant to teamsters driving jobs , so with that, I ask what all type of union driving jobs do they cover? I have about 5 years experience as of right now a lot of it hauling building materials, dump truck, and ready mix trucks. So I guess my question is do they cover those genres of driving? and how likely would it be for a guy with the 5 years experience With all of that be to get a union job doing something related to that? I hope you can understand this haha^^ just want to try the union route. I have 3 kids and I'm tired of working for peanuts, specialty when I hear of other drivers making $28-30 an hour salaries doing the exact same thing I am

You may want to put down your location to help people on the forum to steer you in the direction that you are looking for.

Good luck to you! God bless you and your family!

The prototype union jobs in trucking will be with: UPS Freight, ABF, YRC. Then you can hit up your local Union business agent and inquire about what contracts are available locally. You'll work on the extra board, you'll work based off seniority, and you'll probably have lower pay than you want, at first.

You could also consider doing something entirely different. I've been in the petroleum tanker business for about two years now and am looking at becoming a refinery operator. $38 an hour with full benefits. And those 14 hour days we've been groomed to put in, will generate massive OT in that line of work.

It's kind of hard to direct somebody to a job if we don't know where you live

I was wrong about the age of this thread before. The post you are replying to is actually over 10 years old. Someone resurrected this thread.
