Haha, stalking my posts I see. This was in reference to my first union job actually, hauling wine. The union never did a #### thing for us, and were extremely rude when I would call them. They would act almost annoyed, and straight up told me they only care about collecting my union dues. I really laid into those people after a while, when I quit.
The milk hauling gig was at a different Local. The business agent was pretty cool with me there but they were still completely worthless.
Teamsters Union sucks. A real union gig is like, the Steelworkers, IBEW, but Teamsters are a joke of a union.

I thought pretty much the last union gig was yrc or ups. And yrc has narrowly avoided bankruptcy a few times recently if memory serves me...

I just remember your stories and the other ones I heard from guys who worked out there that transferred over here. The construction related trades and, lets face it, the railroad, all offer up some great unions. Who knows where the Teamsters went wrong.moloko Thanks this.

Hello, thanks for sharing. I am a team truck driver for Werner Enterprise and was wondering if there is a Union outside that I could sign up with. At the moment my co driver and I have been held up in Laredo, tx having our truck looked at for repairs. and, yes without pay. I can't help but wonder how these big companies get away with it. At any rate, I would appreciate any information you could share about finding a Union or maybe even starting one. I would also like to help other young drivers who don't know any better. And, these big companies take advantage of.

Google 'Teamster' in your state and town, then call them and they can answer any questions you have. Every Union shop is different. One may be awesome, next may be horrible.

Just so you know, that post was over 9 years old.
Look up the local in your home town (or closest metro area) and walk in and talk to them next time you're home. That's the best way to get accurate information on what they have in your area.
