I’m an independent with a few trucks and have my own authority. This will be my first time trying to get contracts for my company without working for another carrier and was wondering if anyone had advice on the best way to get started trying and find and win bids to haul crude.

Have to meet the insurance requirements for the operator.
Contact marketing firms and throw your name in the hat (eaiser said then done, most will won't experience, meaning your number is new). Most producers contract moving oil through a marketing firm.
No safety record will be a problem if your a new authority.
Long shot: where you live find operators meaning (energy companies, producers, etc, asked if you can get there marketing groups contact info). Best if you drive to their field office and inquire about marketing contacts in house. Don't try and sell yourself right there, most have a corporate person for bids.

    Fourtransport and Tsttruckj Thank this.
