Schneider does not have their own CDL school, they just reimburse you cost the cost of one at $150 per month as long as you stay with them. You need to front the cost of the school and it would take 34 months to get $5000 Reimbursed at $150 per month.

Lots of other companies offer school reimbursement, the $150 per month seems to be pretty standard for those offers.

In addition to Prime, Swift and Roehl have their own CDL schools. Swift has one in Arizona (http://www.swifttrans.com/careers/driving-school). Roehl will pay you while attending their school but you have to stay with them for 15 months or pay them back (they consider the school a loan). I think they want $5000 if you leave early, even if it is just a few days shy of the 15 months (http://www.roehl.jobs/cdl-truck-driving-schools).

The thing that may hurt him (as well as myself as I'm in a similar situation being unemployed for over 6 months) is the period of unemployment. I'm not exactly sure how CRE, or Swift are about this, but if you were to try over at Prime, Inc. which I intend to do myself, since it's the best choice out of the options quite frankly - they may deny you and I since they, from what I've read, don't like the long unemployment gaps. Although it might just be on a case by case basis as well though. Fortunately, I plan on getting my CDL A from an outside school before applying directly to them, but if they're sticklers about the unemployment gap issues, then it may not make a difference either way. I'm not sure on how they determine on someone who is unemployed at the time of applying, qualifies or gets in the door over there. Just something to think over.
