What is frustrating is I can’t properly quote the lane. I spend 10 minutes figuring out one rate just to find out it’s 75 miles farther away for pickup and 75 miles farther for delivery. That could have a huge impact on my quote. Heck 150 extra miles could change it from next day delivery to a two day delivery.

I realize I won’t change your mind, but just know that a lot of higher quality carriers are passing you over. It sounds like you are dealing with a lot of sub par carriers. It also sounds like you are dealing with a lot of high volume/low margin freight. If that’s the case keep doing what you are doing. I wouldn’t be interested anyway.

Why do get the impression that the OP double brokered a load to a lowball hauler.. his use of the word driver instead of my driver seems odd..

Sub-par carriers are the ones living and dying on the load boards, so yeah, he's dealing with a lot of them. The quality carriers will survive on contract freight with only the occasional brokered load to fill a gap or move a truck.

Usually the quality carriers i work with already have their choice of what loads we have before i even have to post them. Spot quotes, fallouts, tough lanes are the ones that get posted to load boards. And those always generate a wide range of calls from a wide range of folks. Ever post a 1n4 out of FL for 2800 and talk to 30 Chicago double brokers asking for 4000? Its not about cheap freight, high volume/low margin freight. There are plenty of time wasters in this business. Plenty of jokers and clowns at shippers/receivers and in brokerages and driving trucks all across the country. Most of the carriers in business today are sub-par at best.

I understand your logic about the miles involved and how it can change various factors. But you can always ask for a little more money if your a little farther out than what you originally thought. Id rather pay a good carrier more money anyway so i dont have to deal with the headaches.[/QUOTE]

And that's why you have difficulties moving loads. People see your name on the load and keep right on scrolling.
