The popular concensus is to skip the per diem from what I have seen others say about it.

You don't have much of a choice as far as the miles system that the company uses.

    Lilbit,
Thanks for the reply. On the website for Millis Transfer, they show a pay scale for HHg and Practical miles, with Practical miles being about .02 cheaper. Was wondering what the difference was in the two. Thanks again for the help.

I'm not positive, but I believe HHG tends to be shorter than Practical miles (I could be wrong), but since practical is showing cheaper, that means they are probably a slight bit more accurate. HHG is the common one for moving companies. Either way, I can say you will end up driving about 10% more miles than what the load shows for miles.

I wish all companies had to pay by hub miles (actual driven), but that won't happen. I know of one company that does that a buddy of mine works for.

I know this is a bit off topic, but here is how i make sure i get paid.

I have a minilla envelope. On the front i have "TRIPS FOR WEEK STARTING XX-XX-XX" and then i list the trips done during that week. Everything that goes into one of my trip packs to get turned into the company for pay...BOL, scales, tolls, fuel slip....anything....i have a copy of it, regardless how insignificant it might be, i make a copy of it. I even went a step further, and had a stamp made for $25. I stamp every BOL, and it has TRIP, TRACTOR, DRIVER ID and TRAILER...and i fill those out accordingly. there should be NO WAY they cannot know who submitted that trip for pay. and if anything isnt paid, and they say "well we never got it".......DING DING DING DING.....please give me your fax #, or i will drop a copy of that item at the nearest drivers window.

    HHG
    Household movers guide
Which I think is pretty much zip code to zip code, shortest route not necessarily the practical route

practial miles you would end up with more accurate paid miles to what you run I myself would chose the practical and no per diem. Then claim the per diem when yo file ur taxes.
