I know I'm gonna get #### for this, but I was wanting to brain storm with fellow drivers before I try to discuss this with my driver manager. I'm a trans man who is wanting to get top surgery. Good transgender surgeons are hard to find and I found one in California who accepts my insurence. But I live in IL. I was thinking of taking home time in Cali to get my surgery. But I'm flat bed with Western Express and the healing time is 5-9 weeks. I doubt I can keep a truck there that long. I was thinking of asking him to use this truck to pull van trailers instead of flat bed right after surgery until I am done healing. I figured it's minimum physicall work that won't negatively effect my results. Or tell him to only give me loads that don't require a tarp. I'm not supposed to lift over 5 lbs. I just want to make sure this is a reasonable request to ask of your driver manager. And what the max amount of days I could keep a truck some where under these circumstances before they make me turn it in. Or hell if its even a good idea to risk driving a truck at all.

I would think driving after that kind of surgery would be painful. Maybe just take the time off from driving. See what the surgeon say about driving.

If you're company driver you'd be crazy thinking the company would let that truck sit idle for that long.
If you're a lease operator do as you please if you can cover the payments.

Maybe you can take Amtrak train ride back to IL. I don't know any about the surgery but I would guess climbing in and out of truck would not be easy. Maybe take a week's vacation on LA or two.

Dkes western exlress have a terminal in calif.? If they do... you can see if they will let you turn the truck in there. Dou t if they will let you stay in truck while recovering. I suggest asking and see what you and w.e. can work out.
