Some shippers just fax their load lists and what they are willing to pay to 10 or 20 brokers and carriers and whoever commits to it and gets a truck in first gets the load. I have seen the same sad, sorry load posted by 8 different brokers and know the exact load and how much it pays, because we get the same faxes they do.
These loads are cheap to begin with, so by the time the broker takes a cut, there is nothing left. When I see the same load posted by two or more brokers, I just pass it over and keep on looking. If one covers the load for $1000 and the other covers the load for $900, you can bet the $900 broker is going to chop the rate to the shipper to get the business. So, if your truck is on the $1000 load, your load is going to cancel. Its not worth the hassle.
