Doesn't say in GA book. Just says you must also do the background and fingerprint check.
Guess I'll find out when I go to do it or just might go ahead and do the other stuff first. Doesn't really matter, have to do it either way if you want that endorsement. -
American-Trucker Thanks this.

I did that list ### backwards and it works in mn

I am getting ready to renew my CDL & Hazmat of course.
Here in FL you take your application to the DMV to begin the background check and renewal. You will also be required to take the knowledge test for Hazmat at that time as well. You have to start no later than 30 days prior your licence expiring. They take your licence immediately and give you a temporary one showing that your hazmat expires in 30 days. Then once you have passed the background etc. a new licence arrives in the mail.
I am going to go ahead and get my tanker endorsement as well as that is the only one I dont have.
Total cost $197.00...FYI
BTW - Florida is one of twelve "Non- Participating States" on that online hazprint site.Last edited: Mar 4, 2011

I got my hazmat endorsement a year and a half ago.The lady at the driver license office said it expires when my license expires? Someone told me 2 years? whats the real truth?

So as far I can tell it is 4 yrs, for the money it costs it had better last 4 years...~lol~Last edited: Mar 4, 2011

I think if you got your hazmat before the fingerprint/background checks --they dont expire till your license expire.. I think if you had to do fingerprint/background checks --it is a year but i am not real sure. I got mine before fingerprint/background checks and will have to go through the process next year...

My S/O has had his CDL for years 'n years but did not have hazmat and he went ahead and got that back in '05 and had to do the fingerprinting/background check and it took a couple of months to come through.
Last year when he renewed he still had to have his fingerprints & background checks done and he had his new licence in a couple of weeks.
I too got my hazmat before the fingerprinting/backgrounds checks were in place...I am keeping my fingers crossed that this does not turn into a nightmare. -
In sc it is all done at dmv testing and finger printing. Then you just have to wait for the results of background check to come in. You will then get a letter to take back to dmv and add the endorsement to your cdl.
