O/O's don't use it as they don't have an employer they have to prove anything to.
MVR will be your life long overall driving record. $10 bucks at the DMV. You will have to either get on the TWIC website to locate a finger printing station near you or ask the DMV when you pick up you MVR where the nearest Hazmat/TWIC finger printing station is. As I know the cost to finger print is non refundable so if you are denied then that will be a big loss but no need to fear as in most cases TWIC is not required to drive a truck. It just allows you to enter ports and other high security areas where loads are located which IMHO is more of a PITA than its worth. Overall, it's a pretty simple straightforward process. The longest part is waiting to hear back on your fingerprint results. Good luck. -
A DAC should not even have been brought up.
The OP has no DAC, because he's never possessed a CDL.
HireRight does do background checks, tho. -
If you have never had a CDL, companies are only required to research your employment history for three years. Current or previous CDL holders need a 10 year employment history. More extensive background checks are not required by statute, but may be done at a company's own discretion. The background check for TWIC is done by the Federal government, so I'm not sure how extensive that is. You will be fingerprinted, and will need to personally visit a TWIC service center twice. Once to apply, and once to pick up your card.
How they handle background checks and MVR for immigrants I'm not sure, but given the number of immigrant drivers I'm seeing these days, I wouldn't expect that you'd meet much resistance there. -
I have a secret clearance from the us gov. And they have my prints. Also I just had it renewed so I think I should be alright there. My wife,s might be a bit different, she just became a US citizen last year.
She is also on my paperwork here and should not have a problem. .......... I hope ! -

If you are talking criminal background, that can go back to your tenage years.
MVR, is state dependent. My fl mvr goes back to date of issue, decades ago.
Very few check your credit report.
Workmans comp claims may also turn up. -
HireRight as a company does many types of background checks for many industries. Their list of products is available to employers as a yearly subscription and per use basis. The main product all truck drivers become familiar with is the DAC report--AKA --'Transportation Employment History'. Trucking companies can and will pay for other products. Everytime you as a driver request your DAC in my experience there is a list of inquires also included that seems to only go back three years.I recently applied for a 'Truck Boss' job for an oilfield company and without sharing the company name these are the products they requested as an example, BTW it was the highest number of products I have seen requested on me personally!
1)CDLIS+ This is basically your national MVR for your CDL and my home state also provides this seperate from my state MVR and contains a couple of things not on my state MVR-- i.e. overweight tickets that occured in other states.
2)US MVR Express I have no idea what this is--possibly my state MVR?
3)Transportation Employment History (DAC)
4)Drug/Alcohol Disclosure
5) 20/20 Insight Criminal Records Data
6)Widescreen National Criminal Search---What is the difference between 5) and 6)??
