With that kind of reserve, do something else instead of trucking. There isn't any money in it anymore. Use it for another kind of business. This industry has gone to trash. To blow 125k just to make an average around 100-150k gross maybe and owing uncle sam back a big chunk of change is silly.

I would stay away from anything in the 2008 to 2013 range. And DPF is a nightmare unless you are a large fleet and know how to service them.

Key is to understand more than just trucking but the various things that impact the industry. Example of this would be things like the manufacturing index and inventory levels. Both of those where in the wrong position for trucking 2nd half of last year.

Right now, if you can keep your cost of operation below $.80 per mile and have a solid handle on what your daily fixed costs are you can not only make it but do well.

Many people with far less experience have been successful in this business.

This forum is a huge source of knowledge. Search, read, ask questions and have a thick skin.

If something makes sense but you don't understand why, learn why, don't just accept something, good or bad, as fact.

They only thing I would suggest is to research the engines in the trucks, Detroit, ISX, etc. Those seem to have the least number of horror stories. Some of the others, well, there's a reason they are so cheap.

What? Don't go too far ahead of yourself. "The money is there," that's such a null and blank statement. What money you think is there, might not be enough for me. I don't even know the monies that's there you're speaking of.
