    Its frustrating.

I've got a customer who puts the truck into the foundry right behind the pattern machine and pattern prep area. They use Styrofoam for the patterns and they use nails to put them together if the tape doesn't hold. When they are bored and have nothing to do, these idiots will throw nails into the dock area and that is where the trucks gets them stuck in the tires. Today I had to move the small truck to get the big one into the dock, pre-tripped it just in case and discovered the tires had nails in them. I counted 24 nails in the tires, I am not kidding 24 of them. I told the manager and he has to replace all 10 tires now.

Every time I pull a nail out of a tire, it starts leaking air. So I don't.

See now that's when the behavior will change, when it starts costing the boss money.

A pair of side cutters is faster and safer than a razor blade. But yeah the plug kits rock

Never pull anything out of your tire . Let a tire person do it. I made that mistake early in my career and caused an unnecessary road service call. The object itself acts like a plug in a tubeless tire and in some cases will not leak very much. However if you pull that object out with nothing to plug the hole with your going to have a flat in a very few minutes.

They have plug kits for commercial tires? I plugged my e load rated tires on my chevy tahoe and its a real ####!. With the extra plies just getting the reemer tool in was hell. I dont think plug kits are recommended for anything besides small engine and passenger car tires.

They make several different kits, some are basically a heavy duty car version,a few come with larger plugs. The larger ones you rarely need, and if you do,eat your wheaties.
About the trimming part, you can light the stub ends, and let it burn flush. Just don't start with to long of a end.

When I find foreign objects stuck in my tires, I drive to the tire shop and let them pull it out, no leaky-no fixey, if leaky - they fixey, and I am on my way.

Some can be tough, you're right. Ive got auto inflaters on my hopper. When i get home i have my 16 yr old son plug them for me. Much easier when he does it.
