I m sure every company is different--and I have ZERO big company experience--but IMHO--calling the shipper directly(unless expressly told not to)is the SMARTEST thing to do--cut out the middleman--the possible miscommunication etc--

wow...great advise. BTW a fruit basket was a joke...to a point.
OK, so.... think ahead and dont be a little bI&^h. Do your job and be smart...the miles will come.....
Is that the secret? -
Well if you tell them to kiss your "fruit basket" be prepared to sit alot!...............
panhandlepat Thanks this. -
Temper tandrums will get you know where. Maintain a positive relationship with your dispatcher and customer.
Nobody likes short runs. But everyone has to do their share. They might just be repositioning you for a better run. Alot of contracts the companies get, the shipper will say we'll give you these good long runs, but you have to take these short crappy ones too. Package deal. So do the job and don't be a whiney baby. -
Nice. Totally negated what I said. After DISPATCHING drivers for over 20 years I always appreciated gifts of thanks. I NEVER reacted to "bribes". I come from a casino tipping culture, I guess that makes me a bad influence.
But I'm sure you must know better. There must be something wrong with me and my DM (and he's not actually a dispatcher, the load planners are in the company I work for, anyway).
I will report what you revealed to him first thing in the morning. Bad DM! No jerky! Get me my miles! Then I'll let
you know how that works (or not) for me. -
if it doesn't work, you can always put your head on my shoulder and cry....i'm here for you babe....(just don't let Nana know about us...ok...??? i hear she's fiercely jealous)
-
I just took the boss of me and his dispatch son to lunch. I paid. When i got back to my truck in the yard, someone had written "Suck up" on it. In poo. Jealous ashwholes!
U4EA Thanks this. -
keep the left door shut and throw the logbook out the window
-
In POO? PLEASE tell me you aren't serious about this!!!

Oops, sorry! Sarcasm alert!
