I was probably about your age when I quit doing food service .The general rule was always 40 years old but that’s not always the case.A lot of food service jobs isn’t the physical work it’s a lot of walking a hand truck up and down a trailer into the restaurant and doing it 5 to 10 stops a day.The biggest hurdle you will have is getting basically the worst route as a new hire or working the extra board. With time it’s a good job money wise and even time off.Back in the late 90s I was making 75,000 a year only working 3 days a week but every day I worked and opened that trailer door at my 1st stop I swore that was going to be my last day but I worked that job for 8 years and only quit because I moved.
austinmike, tscottme and Zonno Thank this. -

See, here you have what most drivers would give their left peanut for, and still not happy? Hauling schluck was the best job I ever had, and tough to get into. It shows how misguided some may be, but to give up a great job like blacktop, for food service, well, let's just say, years ago, we'd have made that mistake, and regretted it and why this site is so valuable. I consider food service the bottom of the barrel, and blacktopping at the top. Salaries are the most BS, and I think you are doing just fine. I'm giving you a verbal slap on the head, be glad you have what you have.
