You have any examples (addresses) of locations you are going to?

If hasn't been said yet use Google Earth then can click the person to get the street view like you're there.

Go old school. Turn off the GPS. Read the road signs for restrictions. Call ahead to the customer, and get directions from where you were coming from. Ask for land marks,,number of stop lights, gas stations,McDonald's or something you will recognize. While you are on the line you might ask where to find the office, do they have mt's, is your next load ready, over it'd parking,etc..things a GPS will never give. Be sure to offer gratitude and praise. Works every time.
PS. Don't wait till you already lost.

Go really old school and only use payphones to call for directions and wait for an hour or more if you only get voice mail!
Used to get lost plenty back in the day.

Ask a driver what time it is and they tell you how to build 5 different kinds of watches and how you should just know based off the position of the sun hitting your dashboard. Who cares about time zones. All else fails, sun dial ;-)

Seriously though, common sense, truck atlas and maps, and other drivers from your company. Last and most important, use your eyes and see down the road before you start your turn, that way you still have time to cancel that turn and keep driving forward. That has saved me a many times in areas I've never been to.

Yes,DO NOT DEPEND ON A GPS!!!!!!! Go old school and use a map....use a GPS as a back up plan. Heres a good suggestion, call thecustomer and get directions as well and compaire the three.
Be safe and use your brain!

    Joetro Thanks this.

I seriously have my reservations about who is behind the wheel of these trucks after reading threads like these.
