So thanks again guys for the info, that's all I've got for now. Like I said, I also day trade or at least look at it daily for a few minutes, but my trades are minimum 3-4 days to 3 weeks or so. This business is to help me diversify, since I have probably 40+hours/week available. I'm not doing anything for at least another month or so. We'll start seeing some kind of direction in a month or so, but 3 months would be better. Like I said I'm going to go with a 5th wheel 2 car or maybe a 3 car like that Appalachian, but I don't hear good things about their trailers. I know a guy, that built my neighbors trailer, so I might talk to him about it.
Anyone else want to chime in on the CDL/26K question? Has anyone received a ticket for pulling gooseneck/5th wheel but you're under 26k? Thanks again all! Chris

All you guys that are looking at 4500/5500 Ram trucks need to pay close attention to the specs. I did extensive research and spoke with a head guy at the Ram body builder site before I purchased my second truck which I ended up with another 3500.
The only way to get the Max tow rating is by going with a 5500 and the 4.88 gearing. Any other combinations that are available in there 16 pages of configurations will not get you there.
I wanted a 5500 with 4.10 or 4.44 gears and I was better off sticking with the a 3500.
The 5500 with 4.88 gearing towing a load like you guys are mentioning will get about 6-8 mpg at 60-65 mph if your lucky. -
Why can't you take the 5500 to a rear end shop and have the 4:10's put in? In reality, I cannot fathom doing the wedge thing with Hydraulic/Electric brakes. Stopping is a real nice thing to do.
sxdime and KANSAS TRANSIT Thank this. -
You can get the 4.10's in the 5500. With those specs a 3500 will have more towing capacity.
I can't recall exactly but Its only like 16,000lbs -
That's why I financed 5500 with 4.1. I don't even know what the hell 4.1 is but read some comments here and there and figured out it was something good

4.10 gearing in a 5500 isn't a great combo in my opinion. It's really limited on the towing capacity.
-
so what is the best option. I financed 5500 because of multiple purposes. Including snow plowing, pulling 3 car enclosed trailer, boats and after all I can park in my yard.
what is MPG for 5500 and 4.1? -

So buy a new truck, delete it and void all the warranty? That makes sense.
A 3500 with the same gearing has a higher tow rating. -
You will be way ahead by doing the delete and forget about the warranty.
If you delete them correctly and do your maintenance well you will have no warranty problems.
We have a 2008 and 2011 cummins done when near new and both pull heavy and each have over 300,000 miles with zero warranty issues.Terry270 Thanks this.
