    What are you talking about ? I was involved in an incident (not my fault) about 5 years ago and dot cops and REALLY good lawyers had no problem with my logs

    If it was a problem they would have calculated that I shouldnt have been at that redlight because of hos on duty time and my company would have probably had to pay the at fault driver

    You're never going to have a closer eye on your logs and cell phone records than when somebody goes to the hospital

    That oil change you did 3 weeks ago and didn't log has little relevance in yesterday's crash. And if the incident wasn't your fault, they aren't combing over the records with the same intensity as they would had you caused the crash. For example, if you're rear-ended by a drunk while sitting at a red light, they'll look to see if you're within your allowable drive times, and as long as you were legal to be where you were when you were there, it won't help their case digging any deeper than that. However, if you plow into stopped traffic in a work zone, they'll be looking at maintenance records, using whatever records they can come up with to recreate your log book and compare what they think it ought to show against the one you presented as "accurate", etc. Any discrepancies, the burden of proof still lies with them to show that you were falsifying your log...not with you to show you they are accurate. If you haul no-touch freight and aren't allowed on the docks, you're perfectly legal showing your time in the sleeper. If you had been trying to claim you were off duty, then there would be issues because under the regs you are on duty any time you're at a customer location waiting, loading, unloading, or remaining ready to move or drive the truck...EXCEPT for time spent resting in the sleeper. So, showing sleeper time isn't going to throw any red flags unless they call the place up and find out you had to load or unload the truck yourself or were responsible for counting items as they were loaded or unloaded.
