I doubt any moderations will take effect in 2 weeks. You can try all the remedies. They’re going to give you a 3 mo, card and tell you to see a Doctor. With any Luck you’ll get a 1 yr. maybe a 2 yr. I can’t recite the numbers, but there’s guidance on this in the regs. May need to be below 160 to even pass at all. Look it up, mine was high, now on Losartan. Go see a Doctor, they’ll subscribe a pill. They’ll probably want a follow up visit in 3-4 weeks. One less risk factor for a heart attack or stroke.

If your BP is that high just go on BP meds, you will get a one year card but it's not that big a deal...is it white coat syndrome or do u have high bp?

OP, see a health provider ASAP! See if they will prescribe you a drug called Hydrochlorothiazide! This is a water pill and you are going to be making a lot of water. IT WILL lower the BP down enough for you to get a one-year card. However, you have got to make some lifestyle changes. I'm not going to spend a lot of time writing out a long post! Just going to tell you that high BP is dangerous! PROBLEMS FROM HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE!

HCTZ forces water out of your system, making you pee very often.
And that is a supplement to other meds for BP, not a main one.
I guess it might help one more if they had a large excess of water in their system...

It was one that, for me, went along with Lisinopril.
Over the years I have had the Lisinopril dosage ramped up and the HCTZ ramped down, mainly because of getting tired of having to urinate so often.

This year I told the doc that I seldom took the HCTZ and he removed that part because the Lisinopril was doing the job nicely on its own.
His only concern was that the higher dose of Lisinopril can cause kidney function problems in some people, but my blood tests came back good.

Mine was a little high 140’s to 150’s but I could lower it just by relaxing so they weren’t so concerned but still gave me a 6 month card and said see a dr

    I wasn’t real heavy , 5-11 and 235ish
Changed eating habits. No TS food and rarely after 7pm
Lost 25+ lbs and dr prescribed BP meds and now I’m in the 117 range and back on a 2 year card

My biggest concern was taking that small pill. I don’t take any meds and rarely ever take aspirin then the dr just said. We are getting older and have to start doing old people things

I don’t know if you can lower it within range in two weeks but there are things you can do that will immediately lower it some.
Cut out caffeine, drink water, lots of water, I’m talking 1.5 gallons a day, eat super light! Low carbs, when you eat heavy big meals, all your organs have to work overtime to digest those big heavy meals. You let your body relax by eating very small portions, get extra sleep, walk every day.

you can drop it significantly without these changes in two weeks, but longer-term, you want to incorporate these changes with a long-term weight loss plan, diet and exercise.

you simply cannot sit in the driver seat all day except for when you go to sleep or walk in and out of the truck stop to get food and expect yourself to get healthy. It just doesn’t work that way. Trucking is the worst career overall for health and if you don’t take serious measures to counter that, it will sneak up on you.

The reason this med will work is that the average trucker's high BP is because of the sodium content in their body! I know this subject about sodium is argued back and forth a lot, but I have actually witnessed how well it can work. It won't work as well if the high BP is caused for other reasons. This is why I plead with drivers to stay healthy and see a medical provider BEFORE that physical comes due, not 2 weeks before, and start running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to find a work-a-round.

    GENERAL TO EVERYBODY!!

If you have never suffered a heart attack, you have NO IDEA how much it hurts. I described it to Keri as feeling like someone stabbed me in the back with a knife and the pain radiated all the way down to my left elbow. Nausea and weakness were just as bad. I am losing friends left and right to cardio problems. This is why I am almost on my knees begging drivers to make healthy choices. Get out of that #### truck and walk! Stop eating basically Artery glue! Last month I laid on that table in the Richmond Virginia VA hospital Cardiac Catheterization lab for almost 2 full hours. Sick to my stomach basically from all the dye used. My right arm was at a bad angle that was painful. Just to open up two Cardiac Arteries and place 2 stents. Today I have 3 stents and will be on meds for life because of it. Heart problems are the result of this driver's lifestyle. PLEASE don't follow in my footsteps! PLEASE!!!!

    Loose weight!

True I only drive my desk but I was approaching 225# when I should be closer to 150#.

Was moved from Atenolol [sp] once a day W/ Lisinopril [beta blocker and ace inhibitor] to a different beta blocker, Metropanol twice a day.

Started to watch my food intake, started to control my portions [important] and stopped drinking non-diet Arizona green tea [lost a ton of calories].

Dropped over 50# over 4 months.

Went for my annual checkup and the Doctor said my pulse was too low [beta blockers slow your heart rate] and cut it back to one a day and I need to see if my pulse doesn't go above 50 he will cut it out all together, I was down to 119/65 with a pulse of 40.

I've never had a BP over 160 and with the meds it stayed in line for years but didn't start to improve until I controlled how much stuff I put in my mouth.

BP meds take effect usually in a few days.

your BP is not something to play doctor with, see a real doc and get it fixed.

I'm 68 , 5'9"" and 225. my BP tues at docs was 120 over 79. not bad for a fat old fart

been on beginner ,(smallest dose),meds for about 10 yrs.
