The 3rd point you made, water.

Most people without even realizing it are walking around daily, partially dehydrated. Cutting out those few cans of soda every day will make a bigger difference than you realize.

It's one of those life hacks. You will your stomach with water, suddenly, you don't drink as much soda. Your body wants to be hydrated. But since people don't drink enough water, they end up drinking too much soda.

You are correct, most adult are dehydrated and they don't even realize it. Learn the symptoms of deydration. It is important. It makes a huge difference.

If you are properly hydrated, you wont drink as much sugary drinks. You just wont want it. Make it a rule, before you drink your Big Gulp Dr Pepper, drink a bottle of water first. Then notice the difference. Just chug the water down. Fill your stomach with what it really wants.

BOOM! Passed my DOT even though BP was a slight challenge. Strict with no lead way where I went.
After 9 years away from driving I am back.
Did lower my BP a lot, blood sugar was good and lost 15 pounds during the 3 weeks I busted my butt to make it. I did use several of y`all advice on here and tips. Helped me do this!!!!
Looking foward as I start in 2 weeks.

Best just go see a doctor and get it under control. If you already got a 175 “ish” reading you’ll likely get a failing 180 once the white coat syndrome sets in.

At 180 you will fail and not even get a 3 month certificate.

You will need about 3 months to lower it with meds, exercise, and change of diet. You don't be able to change anything in two weeks, you can't cheat this process.

I can lower mine by sitting down, being calm, and breathing deliberately.

Your blood pressure varies. It's not static.

Technically you can lower BP with nitrates and diuretics within two weeks. I can lower my BP from the 140/90 range down to 90/40 range in a few minutes by dropping a nitro pill under my tongue. This is why nitrates are so good. I am taking a drug called Isosorbide for almost a year now. Nitrates are prescribed for angina, but work by relaxing the arteries! However, I agree with the tone of your comment. An OZ of prevention is worth a ton of cure.

Another trick is to take 2 Tylenols right before you go to bed at night. Make sure to schedule your BP test for the next morning and stay fasted until after the test.

Make an appointment for a physical examination as soon as possible with a doctor on the FNCSA National Registry list. Remember, You have to have a blood pressure BELOW 140/90.Getting your blood pressure and blood sugar under control is more important than driving right now. Your doctor will help with this. I don't know if you are married and have children, but they need you. We all want you to make that appointment. Good luck. Stay healthy and be safe.
