Have you considered moving out of Florida?

Or

If you know someone in a neighboring state you could use their address and get your CDL transferred to that state. Of course going this route will make home time more of a challenge.

 

Your 20 years to late for ''great money'' in trucking.I made more money back in the 80's than i do now.Sad but true...

You living in Florida is not helping at all.The only really good gig is hauling grocery's for that big chain down there.Wages are piss poor in much of Florida.

If i lived in Florida and could not land a nice paying job,i would buy my own and run for Landstar out of Jacksonville.This off course is IMO.You can do pretty good with Landstar.If you stay out there for a long time like you mentioned,you can make some serious money with Landstar.

 

How much more of a challenge can it get..???!! He is already out 1/6th of the year or more at a time.

I affirm after much research that residing in Florida is not the most financially beneficial are to live for an OTR trucker.

 

I fail to understand how you are not making money as a team driver. You should be getting priority loads going many miles.

If I could drive team, which I cannot since I cannot sleep in a moving truck, I would get on a FedEx Ground run and clear after taxes $780/week at minimum. It ain't enough to live life in the fast lane, but certainly better than zippo. You would be home every other week at the longest also.

 

Try Southeastern Freight Lines and all the LTL's. Also, try Knight and Cypress. They hire out of FL and are always looking for drivers. There are jobs for drivers in FL, you just have to look. Also try Armellini.
