I have an IRS office near me so I just go by and pay it in person so that I can get a stamped receipt where it has been paid.

If you want you can go to the IRS website and download the form. www.irsforms.gov. Some you can fill out online. You may also be able to efile on the same site, if that is what you decide to do.

After over an hour wait, they tell me they are NOT acccepting payment until congress authorizes the budget.

    More info at www.irs.gov/trucker

That is all I know now.

That's why I hustle Mrs. Foreman into making the IRS office run. Sometimes I don't get a lot of kisses and hugs for that.

Early in the morning is probably the best time for me to get into my local office. We used to be able to pay it at the reception desk. The last time that I paid mine I had to wait and see one of their people that sit in their little cubicles.

I did mine online for my prorated amount this year and you get a watermark and not the stamp. IL IRP would not accept the "watermark" and wanted the stamp. So took the form to my IRS office (painless, more time BSing with agent than waiting) got the stamp then went to pay IRP (this was in March). Was told by IRS that this is becoming issue because they want all 2290's e-filed and if you have 20 or 30 trucks (can't remember number) they require e-file. Mentioned this to the people at IRP office and manager over heard and said that they will accept the watermark. It was news to all the people working that have been turning people away. ARRRRGGGHHH

Side note: I hate the IL IRP office and the little man that runs it. They could be used as a case study why you need armed guards and metal detectors at goverment buildings.
