    Hey guys,

Newbie here, I just wanted to know how to pay for trucking school. I researched a few methods to pay for school: 1.) Have a mega-carrier pay for your school but you have to sign a one year contract, 2.) getting a cal grant C from the education boards and 3.) borrowing money from friends and family.

Are there any other ways to pay for trucking school? I can't get a cal grant C since I have a bachelors degree already so they disqualify you automatically and borrowing money from friends and family is not an option. I don't want to go through with a mega-carrier because I want to find local/regional work straight out of school. Any other governmental assistance?

    Thanks!

Wash dishes in a fast food 8 hours a night 6 nights a week. Put aside the money until you have the 6000 or so dollars cash.

Look up the WIA/WiOA program in your state. Was how I got my truck driving school paid for and I have a bachelor's degree too. You'll need to be under a certain income threshold to qualify.

    Your location might help.
With any secondary education, your not going to get any state funding if any possibility exists that you could find employment in associated fields.

When I went to school I got a loan for it. Many schools will help with this. Then, many companies offer reimbursement programs for school to pay back the loan. For example, Maverick paid me $150 per month while I was there for cdl school reimbursement. Best wishes to you!

Just because u go to a mega carrier for you cdl dissent mean u have to stay and work for them. The offer for employment is always conditional on ur behalf as well as theirs. It's really the best place to get ur cdl. They put forth a little more effort making sure u can drive because they don't want u tearing their equipment up. (Most companies) if u go to a private school, they just want u to get to that point where they can charge u the full am out even if u finish or not. (That is usually 10 days). Go with a mega carrier for school then tell them peace out! Pay them 50 bucks a month until it's paid or whatever u guys decide on. Good luck!!!! Hope to see u on the road soon! :)

What is your location? I’m training with RE West (TN) right now. They don’t have a contract for their training but only ask that you stay 6 months or repay the $85 for the dot physical and any sign on bonus.
