I’ve thought about your method before, but it wouldn’t work for most people mainly because of the money. We have lots of broke people going into trucking. I was one of them. The 2nd problem is the know how.

Big fleets will finance your school costs, even lend you money if you need it, put you on a truck with a trainer for further training that can last 4-8 weeks over-the-road, and finally give you a job. Sure, school costs can be in the thousands, but there should be trucking schools out there with significant discounts or even make trucking school free if you stay with them a certain amount of time.

I agree, I am in one of those broke people who are going into trucking, I am currently studying for the CDL, reading the book twice, watching youtube videos on pre-trip, air brake, and how to shift and park. My mother's bday is coming up in a few weeks and after that I'm going to apply for loans to pay for school lol.

    I paid with credit.
Got like $275 left to go after 3.25 years trucking.

Go to a nearby trucking school and ask them or research on your own, the nearest work force grant program (federal). With this grant program, having jumped it's own hurdles, your schooling is free including all endorsement and license fees.
As stated on page 1 of this thread, WIOA program.

    PE_T Thanks this.

Thanks for the reply, I believe it's called the WIOA grant, I looked into it but I didn't meet the qualifications: you have to have been fired, laid off, or currently not working within the past few months. I also tried to apply for the Cal Grant B but since I have a Bachelors of science degree I couldn't qualify.
