What about a company watching you through the GPS tracking device? Gives all CAN bus data and then the boss can tell if your stealing fuel or not based on how much has been used vs. how much is not, thats what my boss is making.

both the seller and the buyer of fuel--or any company equipment should be dragged to fuel island and be beaten and set on fire

What I have seen round here.
There are transponders fixed at the bottom of the neck of the diesel tank/tanks.
These have unique codes built in to them.
On the nozzle of the fuel pump is a receiver.
Not exactly sure how it works but the pump wont supply fuel unless it is inserted in to the tank.
This is in turn linked to your fuel card and the software is integrated with the GPS tracking.
When fuel is been pumped the location , volume, truck details etc are updated live to the monitoring center.
There are all kinds of options.
There is an option that alerts the control room or if you choose sends sms messages to predetermined cell numbers is the fuel level drops rapidly.
Apparently the systems have proven foolproof thus far.
They can be beaten but the technology needed is to sophisticated for stealing diesel.
Only problem they have seen so far is that of vandalism to the hardware to render is out of order.
That however is easily recognizable and the offenders dealt with.

Necessity is the mother of invention.

That makes sense. What do ya do on the off chance (and I'm sure it's rare) that if yer parked overnight after filling up, someone bleeds yer tank dry?

That's actually kinda freaky to me. As much as I enjoy some modern tech, the "big brother" tech really irks me. I got nothing to hide and I don't appreciate being "hawked over."

Unfortunately, given what a tank of fuel costs... 300 gallons at (now) $3.85 a gallon.. that's $1,155. Truck owners can't be blamed for employing methods to keep fuel from being stolen, and also from being sold.

As long as the "bad apples" keep doing this crap, the good guys will have to put up with extra measure to prevent it. Just like governed speeds, e-logs, hours of service, etc...

My fuel card has a $500 limit every 24hrs. So selling fuel would be shooting myself in the foot. It also makes it necessary to find low cost fuel, which can be an adventure, lol! But I have never considered ever stealing from my company. They gave me a second chance at getting back behind the wheel when everyone else shut the door in my face. I owe these people a lot and all I'm concerned with is putting as many miles down as I can so we all can make money.

If you are so worried about a broke driver buy him dinner and a bus ticket home. No matter how hard you try to convince yourself you are still assisting a criminal. You are still in possession of stolen property. You ran no better than the thief you so called helped. So if you are really the caring person you say to be just give the driver the money out of your pocket and tell them to send it back to you when he has it.
