How to Prevent Theft on a Truck/Trailer?

Aside from clear driver neglect, what technological devices or changes can be made to a truck/trailer to prevent theft. Also, couldn’t keyless trucks just be hacked? Or is it just an additional layer of protection and not intended to be rock-solid theftproof? And no, my truck/trailer hasn’t been stolen (yet). :clock:

Stay out of known high theft zones? Don't leave your key in the ignition. Lockum your doors. Don't allow lizards in your truck. Don't pick up hitchhikers. Don't stop to help change a flat tire when there's a full-grown male standing there. (unless his name is Methuselah, then he might need some help). Brush your teeth twice a day and always wear clean undies.

    You don't

They can and will saw into the side in a short time and scoot with the VCRs or whatever of value.

If they find something truly of value such as pallets with pints of codeine liquid valued at 5000 dollars on the street, (Each bottle of a pint) they will kill you and take the whole thing.

The main thing is not to be stupid. But if they did grab the freight or the truck? *Shrugs. Does not bother me anymore. We have had theft in the past. OSD takes care of it. It's part of the risk of going into the NE, Jersey city etc.

A battery disconnect switch . Trailers have glad hand locks and pinlocks now I have seen how many wacks it takes from a western star to remove one and if someone squirts glue in the lock use a torch for a one time use to unlock then it's junk..

If I wanted that truck to stay put, I simply shut off the fuel tanks at the bottoms of each one. Most idiots don't think that deep. Another trucker would imagine the situation after he starves the engine dry trying to crank.

This is also a good option... Although most newer trucks that I have seen would require that you install the shutoff valves yourself as they dont all have them from the factory.

It just occured to me that on a newer truck this could be accomplished by wiring a toggle switch into the main ECM power wire... Much easier to hide than dealing with big wires directly from the battery.
