Hello everyone. I have a Cat 3406C converted to a B. It has a brand new injection pump. It was too much work for the lazy mechanic I fired to put the new one on AND prime it. It's on but not primed. Anyway, I'm wanting to get it primed but I'm not very good with this stuff. The injection pump itself doesn't have a hand primer or anything so what's the correct way to prime it? I don't want to mess anything up. Thanks in advance!
There should be a hand primer on the fuel filter .. you have to unsrew the plunger some before it will allow you.to start hand priming.
Crack open the fuel line nearest the pump, and slightly pressurize the draw tank. Had to do that with Detroits and reefers years ago.
